Level 5 event sites

Post  revoklaw on Sun Sep 25, 2011 1:03 pm

So I thought we could collect strategies for the level 5 event sites, since some of them are pretty tough. I haven't discovered all of them, and I don't have replays for all the ones I have, but I'll update this post whenever I get a new one. Anyone else should feel free to add as well.

Time-Lost Palace (Eversweep)
Basic idea: Auras and aura extensions, projection damage, and a few debuffs. Don't bother trying to avoid killing the parasites, we don't need their help:

Temple of Frozen Tears (Windscar)
Basic idea: Auras and banes, this one's straightforward:

Seylin's Terraforming Site (Triland)
Basic idea: Lots of self spirit, dual runes and extra actions, to boost the amount the dragon hits itself for. A good amount of vita runes to trigger Ground Strike. This is not a 100% deck:

Silverlight Cave (Gaea's Dawn)
Basic idea: Jaw of Thallios and Aura of Darkness, and a bunch of aura extenders. And some charms like Cataclysm just to fill out the deck:

This topic is a great idea. Those top two are what I used to farm out the last of Treasure Hunter a long time ago - I was able to do both of those not long after I turned 40. The 5-star events though seem to be wildly different in difficulty levels; some of them are still completely impossible for me even at 46 (or I just suck, equally likely) while those 2 were really easy. Thanks for starting this!

Great idea indeed! I don't farm those anymore and I forgot the strategies I used for the ones I completed, but I'll make sure to share them when I'll go back to those 5 stars dungeons Smile

I agree that there's a huge range of difficulty. I still have no reliable way of beating Northern Aurora. But anyway, some more replays. I know some of these strategies are basically "be high level and just power through it", so it would be interesting to see if someone has more elegant strategies that would work at lower levels.

The Godblade (Wildhowl) (unlocked during Kysin Keep questline)
Basic idea: All lightning, shifting damage deck, if you have high intellect. I have no idea what you'd do if you don't.

Haunted Abyss (Eversweep)
Basic idea: I don't know if there's a 'right' way to do this, but they've only got 1000hp total, so just burn them down. I used a fire deck for no good reason.

Carbon Valley (Draka)
Basic idea: One of the easier ones. Use lots of ward and cleanse, and wait for them to exhaust.
http://wl.attrib.org/estiah/replay/ba80f483

Salamath's Hidden Lab (Draka) (unlocked during Bel'Hathal questline)
Basic idea: Mana Needle works *really* well here, just add a couple of aoes.
http://wl.attrib.org/estiah/replay/be3bcfd3

Monastery of Meditation (Eclis)
Basic idea: A long projection deck would probably work (after the healer exhausts), but I chose to go spirit plus a little armor/ward.

Oh, events have never been my strong point. I still have hidden shops that I actually should look for sooner rather than later. But somehow I can never find enough AP for that. I do have some level 5 events so I'll cover those few.

Underground Lab (Eclis)
Basic idea: Lots of spirit and willpower destruction. And a little willpower doesn't hurt either. Although I suppose you can also willpower tank it.

The Darker Streets (Aleas) (unlocked after you've completed the Darkened Streets)
Basic idea: Lots of spirit to exhaust the enemy. And some armor/debuff thrown in to last longer.
http://wl.attrib.org/estiah/replay/3c945ef6

Nightstone Monolith (Aleas)
Basic idea: Lots of willpower destruction and some spirit. No auras though as they will never trigger.
http://wl.attrib.org/estiah/replay/124aa852

Burnt-Down Tree (Night Tear) (unlocked during Bel'Hathal questline)
Basic idea: Banes, summons or auras will all do the trick I suppose. As long as you have some armor/debuff and if necessary willpower destruction.

So I'm wandering aimlessly post-statues looking for some stuff to try, and I stumble on Silverlight Cave in Gaea's Dawn. And I think, oh yeah, Revo posted a strategy for this. But I thought he said to use banes, not auras... and I'm thinking, crap, I'm not an inquisitor, I can't really extend banes well enough to pull this off. But maybe I can.

Bonus: no epics, no class charms

And just a few more. Apparently those quests involve a lot of level 5 events.

Antechamber of Fornax (Gaea's Dawn)
Basic idea: You can't use small weapon, large weapon or vita runes. That leaves kata runes. Or if you suck at that, just cheat and use melee CPB. There are lots of support charms that do melee damage and lightning has lots of shifting damage.
http://wl.attrib.org/estiah/replay/afa3ae3

Antechamber of Norma (Wildhowl)
Basic idea: You can't use small or large weapon runes and it's immune to direct melee and magic. So use auras, banes or summons. You do need to do a whole lot of damage so I would go with banes or summons.
http://wl.attrib.org/estiah/replay/734570a5

Mirage Tower (Triland)
Basic idea: include Dusty Girometer in your gear to destroy the Shade of Lez. It normalizes you so CPB might not be the best solution. Other than that, just pick your favorite strategy.
