Kysin Keep Quest

Here is a guide on the Kysin Keep quest. I will update it as I complete the steps myself. Although if you complete the steps faster than me you can just use the guide found on the internet. It will allow you to get the Archeological adventurer skill, which gives you an extra 55 hit points and 1 spirit in total. It will also allow you to get Petrified Dragon Eggs which are needed to craft some nice charms. During the 3rd phase you will get some really nice charms. And finally you will discover some secret craft shops to make even more cool charms.

Step 1.1 (20/100)

The first thing you need to do is beat the dungeon: Lair of the Artificer. There is a guide on the forum on how to do that. As a reward you will get an Artificer's Strongbox. You are going to need that box all throughout the first phase of the quest. Then you will need to make a trip to Windscar. You have to buy a Ymar's Dresser in the shop there. Although you can also get it before you get the Artificer's Strongbox. Anyway, you take those 2 items and go to Inachis. When you gather there you will automatically find Ymar’s Furniture Shop. And you will get the first 20 points of the Archeological Adventurer skill.

Step 1.2 (40/100)

In the secret shop you discovered you can only craft 1 item. It requires the Ymar's Dresser you previously bought, so go ahead and craft it. You will get an Emerald-Eyed Nave. Using the Emerald-Eyed Nave requires a Captain's Necklace. You can get one right here in Inachis in the dungeon River's Edge. I think it's a guaranteed drop, but if it's not just do the dungeon again. Then you use the Emerald-Eyed Nave to obtain the Artificer’s Access Key: Level 1. Then you use the Artificer’s Access Key: Level 1 to open the Artificer's Strongbox. You will get some notes with clues on them. Now you buy a Fake Philosopher's Stone Somewhere. Then you go to Lumina and gather to automatically find the secret shop: The Corridor of Obfuscation. And you will get the next 20 points of the Archeological Adventurer skill.

Step 1.3 (45/100)

In the secret shop you discovered you can only craft 1 item. It requires the Fake Philosopher's Stone you previously bought, so go ahead and craft it. You will get an Eyeless Nave. Using the Eyeless Nave requires a Captain's Necklace. You should still have that from the previous step. Then you use the Eyeless Nave to obtain the Artificer’s Access Key: Level 2. Then you use the Artificer’s Access Key: Level 2 to open the Artificer's Strongbox. You will get some more notes with clues on them. Now you do the dungeon Cursed Forest until you find a Small Spider Egg. Then you go to Skyrift and gather to automatically find the secret event Artificer’s Island: Spider Gate. And you will get the next 5 points of the Archeological Adventurer skill.

Step 1.4 (50/100)

You have to defeat the event you just found. You are fighting 5 miniature versions of the astroblade from Lair of the Artificer fight 2. Basically the same rules apply here. A Fist or Frost gear or indirect damage with aura reducers. Gloom knell will provide lots of armor/ward if needed. Ex-scouts have it really easy here, way of the Scout will totally fuck up all their auras. After kicking their ass you will get a piece of scrap metal. gather again in Skyrift with that in your inventory and you'll find the secret event Artificer's Island: Chimera Gate [Edit : You'll also need an unhatched chimera egg in order to find it.]. And you will get the next 5 points of the Archeological Adventurer skill.

Step 1.5

For this fight (Chimera Gate, in Skyrift), depending on the runes you use, each astroblade will give you a beneficial effect, as follows :

1st astroblade :
Fist : + ongoing melee
Frost : + ongoing magic

2nd astroblade :
Axe : cumulative armor
Lightning : cumulative ward

3rd astroblade :
Holy : gets stunned
Twinblade : puts a bane on yourself which randomly deals damage to enemies each time you play a twinblade rune

So, the idea is to play a lot of dual charms, especially with the twinblade rune. Some Gloom knell can help too. You'll get a [Scrap Metal] and a [Clockwork Positioning System] which points towards Triland. So go there, and gather with the [Clockwork Positioning System] to discover Seylin’s Terraforming Site.

Step 1.6

Here again, you'll have to use a lot of dual charms as the dragon loses 100 hp per rune played from time to time.

<----- Feeling lazy :

Oblivion Squadron wrote:The dragon will do most of the work, if you let it. Play one Vita rune at least every six turns and the Dragon will debuff both his and the priestess's ongoing magic. Play a Summon, Debuff, Buff, or Tech rune at least once every six turns and the dragon will only get +1 ongoing melee instead of +14 ongoing melee each time he gets to that charm in his cycle. Use a Fire, Lightning, or Shadow rune once every six turns and the dragon will drop a very nasty bane on himself or the priestess. Don't, however, pile any banes, summons, or curses on yourself, because that's an invitation to turn the dragon's double-hits into triple-hits. Last but not least, the dragon plays an EA charm that causes it to lose 100 life for each rune you've played, followed by a charm that heals the dragon completely. You will never kill the dragon unless you play enough runes so that the EA kills the dragon in one shot, before it can heal completely. So:

In order to beat the priestess, you need to play a roughly equal balance of Vita runes, Kata runes, and Support runes, while staying alive long enough for the dragon's banes to kill her. To kill the dragon, you need to play a lot of dual-rune charms, so that his 100 life-per-rune-played (it's 'rune played' not 'charm played') will equal 9000ish (insert obligatory OVER 9000 joke here) that much sooner. Basically, you want a lot of defensive magic charms and debuffs, the more runes on 'em the better, along with Poisonous Fog and any other AoE you may feel like using to kill the Priestess faster. Some good defensive dual-rune charms: Permafrost, Gaea's Blessing, Mana Warder, Skygod Sigil, Earthgod Sigil. There are a zillion Armor/Ward dual-runes but keep in mind that those won't trigger any of the Dragon's positive effects, so use them sparingly if at all. Some good debuffs are the usual Feet Binds, Magebanes, Decay, even Blightwood Blade isn't terrible though don't expect giant heals; Karma Bond will heal you for 18 every single time as all the dragon's runes are Tech runes. For more charms, stuff like Wall of Fire provides some ward (you'll need it to survive the priestesses' summons) and also provides kata runes which you might be a little light on. Just make sure you don't have so many single-rune charms that you exhaust before the dragon implodes.

You'll get a [Petrified Dragon Egg]. Go back to Skyrift and gather.

Step 1.7 :

<----- Still feeling lazy :

Oblivion Squadron wrote:This time it's just one giant Astroblade. "Hell Model Astroblade" actually sounds a lot scarier than it is, especially compared to the Chimera Gate. Like most astroblades, it plays a ton of auras and extends them every turn. There are basically two options here: one, play a fire/earth deck, which will trigger all the auras it plays that benefit you, buffing the hell out of your melee and keeping its armor down - or you can just play a ton of aura reducers along with whatever else (I used banes) and it'll never really do much of anything as long as you keep its auras under control. I recommend the second option, even if it's less exciting.

Personally, I used a mixture of both. I played fire and earth charms along with some aura reducers because his hits get way too powerful if you let him have too many auras on himself. Just find the right balance.

Use the [Sapphire-Eye Nave], get the [Artificer's Access Key: Level 3]. Use it, get [Artificer’s Note 6], [Artificer’s Note 7], [Artificer’s Journal 8], [Artificer’s Journal 4], [Artificer's Journal 5], and [Artificer’s Journal 6].

Step 1.8 :

Now you just need to get 5 Kyud's Unstable Staff from Night Tear (you can get the materials from shops) and go to the Glowing Cave in Eclis. Just do any damage gear with those charms in it (it's a lvl 2 exploration site) and you'll get an [Amber-Eye Nave]. Use it, then use the [Artificer's Access Key: Level 4] to receive loads of stuff. Use the [Councilor's Signet Ring] (you'll need Ancient Languages R1) and you will get your first rank of Archaeological Adventurer.
